LATEST: Burning at 43,000+ acres or 62.6 square miles, and 83% contained so far.

The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department told residents of Seven Oaks to leave the small mountain community following a sudden surge in the Line Fire on Sunday afternoon.

Sheriff’s officials also warned people in nearby Angelus Oaks and the Boulder Bay area along Big Bear Lake to be prepared to leave.

BACKGROUND: The Line Fire started at the base of the mountain in a residential area referred to as Highland roughly in the middle between Lake Arrowhead & Big Bear in San Bernardino. Specifically, at Base Line Road and Aplin Street, Highland.
